‘Cesar Chavez, a Servant Leader — An evening with Roberto Garcia’ to be held at NAU on March 27

MARCH 27FLAGSTAFF — MEChA and Inclusion and Multicultural Services at Northern Arizona University will celebrating Cesar Chavez with special guest speaker, Roberto Garcia, at 7 p.m. Friday March 27 in the University Union, Kaibab Room, organizers reported in a media release.

Garcia will  speak about Cesar Chavez and his influence as a servant leader in the Midwest.

Garcia is native of Saginaw, Michigan. His college academic career began at Delta Community College where he obtained an associate degree in Liberal Arts and later transferred to Saginaw Valley State University earning an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and a Secondary Teaching Certificate. He continued his academic success with the obtainment of a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and an Educational Specialist degree. He is currently a King-Chavez-Parks Future Faculty Fellow and is currently working on his Doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration at Central Michigan University.

Garcia said he discovered his passion and commitment to servant leadership through the education field and his years of work in the Carrollton Public School District, Bridgeport Community School District and Saginaw Public School District in various roles and capacities. He has continued his passion with education and outreach in his current employment at Saginaw Valley State University. He formerly worked as assistant director for the Office of Multicultural Services and currently works in the School University Partnership Office as a School Improvement Specialist in which he assist in overseeing 19 Public charter school academics in the State of Michigan.
