City of Flagstaff announces public meeting on May 4 for Aztec Street Improvement Project

City of FlagstaffFLAGSTAFF — The City of Flagstaff has announced a public meeting for the Aztec Street Improvement Project from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 at the Joe C. Montoya Community & Senior Center, 245  Thorpe Road, Flagstaff.

The Aztec St. Improvements Project is a result of the Road Repair and Street Safety Program approved by Flagstaff voters on November 2014, also known as Proposition 406.  The project is located on N. Aztec St. from the Frances Short Pond to W. Santa Fe Ave.  Work will include:

  • New water main, services, and fire hydrants (Birch to Santa Fe)
  • New sewer main (Birch to the alley between Birch and Aspen)
  • New sewer services (Just north of Cherry to Santa Fe)
  • New asphalt roadway by means of a mill and overlay
  • Replace damaged curb, sidewalk, sidewalk ramps, and valley gutters

The purpose of the project is to improve existing pavement surface conditions and replace/update outdated utilities.  Design has begun and the current schedule has construction beginning June 2017.
