City of Flagstaff hires Shane Dille as new deputy city manager

FLAGSTAFF — City Manager Josh Copley selected Shane Dille as the new deputy city manager following national recruitment effort and a very rigorous interview process. The screening of 106 applications resulted in four finalists being invited to participate in a series of interview panels that included employees, leadership, government agency partners, and community members.  “I am pleased to have Shane on our team and am confident that his knowledge, experience, and commitment to public service will add significant value to our organization and the Flagstaff community,” Copley stated.

Dille most recently served as City Manager for the City of Nogales, Arizona for nearly 6 years.  Previously, he served in positions as Town Manager for the cities of Wickenburg and Gila Bend, Arizona.  Additionally, he has been an Assistant Town Manager in the cities of Queen Creek, and Buckeye, Arizona.

Dille is a Certified Senior Executive in State and Local Government through the Harvard Kennedy School and is an International City/County Manager’s Association (ICMA) Credentialed Manager.  He has a Master of Public Administration degree from Brigham Young University and has been certified in Public Policy & Management through the University of Arizona.

Deputy City Manager Dille said he is excited to be a part of Team Flagstaff and this community.  “As my family and I were driving into Flagstaff the other day we all realized just how much this feels like home.” Dille said.

Dille will spend the next week and a half working with Deputy City Manager Jerene Watson before she retires next Friday.
