City of Flagstaff reports on traffic delays on Clay, Butler avenues

City of FlagstaffFLAGSTAFF — The City of Flagstaff on Tuesday reported the city’s contractor is scheduled to start the chip seal portion of the contract on Wednesday, May 27. The work will start on Clay Ave. and Butler Ave. Parking restrictions will be enforced during the chip seal improvements. The placement of the chip seal will require a rolling or dynamic traffic control through the work zone. Detours and flaggers will assist motorists into, through and exiting the work zones.

The chip seal improvement process is divided into three basic steps:

  1. Application of the chip seal oil and aggregate (day 1) 2. Sweeping up the excess chip aggregate (within 2 days of the application of the chips) 3. Restriping of the roadway, if applicable (within 2 to 3 days of sweeping).

Following the work on Butler chip seal will extend into downtown and throughout the city including:  S. Kendrick St., Mikes Pike St., Leroux St., Dupont Ave., Verde St., Plaza Way, S. Riordan Ranch St. and Saunders Road.
