The Sonnet Man: Youth Writing & Performance Residency at CCA

The Sonnet Man has arrived in Flagstaff! Come set Shakespeare sonnets to hip hop music with rap artist Devon Glover, better known as the Sonnet Man. In this 5-day series of workshops, students will learn the ins and outs of Shakespeare’s writing before transforming his works into their own original projects. The residency will include 4 workshops each day, 9AM-12PM, for students ages 12-18. Hosted July 11th-15th, 2022. Members save $25.

NightVisions 2022: Summer of programming

NightVisions: Cultural Interpretations of the Night Sky is currently on view at CCA through August 27th. Join us throughout the summer for programming exploring the night sky.

NightVisions: Cultural Interpretations of the Night Sky. Gallery hours Wednesday – Saturday, 11 am – 5 pm and by appointment. There is a $10 suggested donation for non-members. Members receive free admission & a 10% discount on artwork sales!  Not a member? Join today! Become a member.

Join us for NIGHTCAP
Thursdays: July 7, August 4 & 18

Enjoy a twilight viewing experience 6-9 pm on the first and third Thursdays of each month during NightVisions. Evening hours enable viewing of the exterior video installation SKYGLOWPROJECT at dusk, and an intimate exhibition experience in the gallery. $10 suggested donation, free for CCA members. Refreshments available for purchase.

Photographing Flagstaff’s Dark Skies: Astrophotography Basics & Insights

Friday, July 22, 6:30 – 10:30 pm

By popular demand, we are offering a second session of this NightVisionsworkshop. Learn approaches to Astrophography in a combined classroom and field-based workshop with Flagstaff astrophotographer John Gartin. Members save $15 on the registration fee.

NightVisions: 21 Tiny Dances

Saturday, July 23, 7 – 9 pm 

21 short solo, duet and trio dance/movements representing the number of comets Carolyn Shoemaker witnessed near Jupiter. Performers will include guest artists from Flagstaff and greater Arizona. Images of Jupiter will be projected behind and on the dancers. Members save 10% on tickets.

David Koerner & Dark Sky Quartet

Saturday, August 20, 7 – 8:30 pm

Dark Sky Quartet brings together violinists Allison O’Bryant and David Koerner, violist Kimberly Sullivan, and cellist Mary Anne Bruner to adorn the landscapes and skyscapes of Northern Arizona with befitting works of chamber music. Benefit concert for Coconino Center for the Arts and the Dark Skies Coalition. Members save 10% on tickets.

NightVisions & Tales of a Sheepherder closing receptions 

Saturday, August 27, 6-8 pm

Join us for the closing reception for NightVisions: Cultural Interpretations of the Night Sky & Tyrrell Tapaha’s Tales of  a Sheepherder. Members save 10% on artwork sales.
