Economic Collaborative of Northern Arizona (ECoNA) — July 4th Festivities in Northern Arizona

Good Afternoon,

All across northern Arizona, there will be lots of celebrations this Independence Day. Here is a sampling of what’s happening in the region as you make your holiday plans.

In Flagstaff, July 4th will get off to a patriotic start with the annual Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Parade through Historic Downtown. The parade starts at 9 am, but you’ll want to arrive early to secure a good viewing spot; this is one of Flagstaff’s biggest events all year.

Later that day, the festivities take a musical turn with A Flag Fourth at the Pepsi Amphitheater in Fort Tuthill County Park. The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra will take the stage at 3 pm for its annual pops concert. This event is perfect for all ages and free! Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and sunscreen. Doors open at 2 pm.

At 5 pm, also at Fort Tuthill, the City of Flagstaff and Coconino County are putting on the Flagstaff 4th Fest show, featuring games, activities, music and a laser light show that begins at 9 pm. The dramatic mix of colorful displays and music lighting up the night sky is in lieu of fireworks, which are not permissible under the Stage 1 Fire Restrictions that went into effect in Flagstaff today.

Sedona will be splashing around on Tuesday with its 4th of July Wet Fest, a giant pool party kicking off at noon at the Sedona Community Pool on Posse Ground Road. The event is free, but vendors (such as food trucks) will charge for their goods and services.

In Winslow, the celebrations get started in the evening, first with the annual 4th of July parade that begins at 6:30 pm, starting at Loy Engelhardt Way (you can get the entire parade route here.)

Around 8:30 pm, residents and visitors will get ready for the largest fireworks display in the region. For most Winslow residents, they literally can enjoy the fireworks from their back yards, but visitors will need to find a local park; the field at the high school is not available this year for viewing as the track is being renovated.

We hope you get out and about on July 4th and take advantage of some of these celebrations of our nation’s birthday.

Sincerely,

Gail Jackson
