Economic Collaborative of Northern Arizona (ECoNA) — Lean Manufacturing Workshop at NACET July 29

Good afternoon,

The various philosophies behind more efficient manufacturing methods have gone by many names over the years – the Toyota Production System or “The Toyota Way,” just-in-time production, and more recently, lean manufacturing.

All have similar principals – that by applying certain tools, manufacturers can implement a systematic approach to reduce “waste,” which is defined as non-value-added activities.

In fact, lean manufacturing identifies eight potential areas of waste that can be reduced in ways that will not only streamline production, but also improve working conditions.

ECoNA is excited to partner with the Arizona Manufacturing Extension Partnership (part of the Arizona Commerce Authority) on Friday, July 29, as they present an overview of lean manufacturing at the Northern Arizona Center for Entrepreneurship (NACET).

Topics for this concentrated training include:

  • Lean Definitions
  • The 8 Wastes
  • Selected tools from the “House of Lean” such as 5S, Visual Control and Pull.

This four-hour morning workshop is not just an exploration of how the principal of continuous improvement will help your manufacturing business. It also includes a fun “light simulation” to help put those ideas into practice. Spoiler alert: Legos will be involved.

Although this concept started in manufacturing, any company within any sector interested in reducing its inventory, improving overall quality, having better on-time delivery performance, and lowering costs should attend.

The workshop costs $100, which includes breakfast, and is limited to 10 participants.

We hope to see you on July 29!
