Sponsored by the Flagstaff Family Food Center, the second annual event will feature more than 20 social services and nonprofit agencies that will help connect children and their families to local resources for assistance.

An estimated 1,500 backpacks will be distributed, along with school supplies for preschool to high school students, while supplies last, food center officials reported in a media release.

Some of the backpacks have been donated by the Assistance League of Flagstaff,  and the remainder — along with the school supplies — were purchased by food center with some financial assistance from United Way of Northern Arizona, officials reported.

Children must be accompanied by a parent to receive supplies.
