Self-Paced Activities
Checkout these self paced Summer Reading Missions!
Communiy Art Collage. Come to the Downtown Library information desk to get a tiny picture and copy it onto the blank paper we give you. We'll put all the pieces together to create one BIG image!  You can also check out watercolors to paint the copy if you want (for in library use only).
Black, White, and Read All Over Community Quilt. Create a block for our community quilt and earn points for the Summer Reading Challenge!   Check out a quilt block kit at the Downtown Library Information Desk (while supplies last) and return your finished block by Friday, July 21st.   The completed blocks will be quilted by the Thursdays at Judy's quilt group and the finished quilt will be displayed in the Coconino Quilters' Guild biannual quilt show in 2024!
Community Book Project. As part of the Summer Reading Challenge, the Library is collecting writing submissions around the theme of "Reading in Flagstaff."  Submit a poem, essay, or short fiction up to 2 pages or 500 words in length by July 21st.  At the end of SRC, the submissions will be turned into a community book available for checkout. Full submission details and age-specific prompts are available at the Downtown Library Information Desk!   All ages are welcome to submit.

Self-Car Bath Bomb Craft Night! Show yourself and the planet some kindness by making bath bombs using natural ingredients & recycled containers!  Wednesday, June 28th. 6:00 to 7:00pm. Downtown Library Community Room. Registration Required.
Resilience Work ession: Community Gardens. Thursday, June 29th at 5:30PM at the Bonito Community Garden: 527 W Elm Ave, Flagstaff, AZ 86001
Youth Events
Lego Club: We bring the LEGO!  You bring the imagination! Mondays June 26th and July 10th. 1:30 to 2:30pm. Downtown Library. Ages 5 and up.
Paws to Read: Sign up to practice reading to a real therapy dog! Mondays & Thursdays from June 5th to July 20th: 20 minute appointments. Come in person to the Downtown Youth Services to sign up for your reading time. Registration starts May 30th.
Crafty Corner. Join us this summer for awesome activities! Tuesdays, June 27th at the East Flagstaff Library and July 11th at Bushmaster Park. 10am. Ages 3 and up.
Storytimes at the Downtown Library! Bouncing Babies: June 23rd and July 14th at 10:30 am. Toddler Tales: June 13th to July 18th, Tuesdays at 10:30 am. Preschool Express: June 15th to July 20th, Thursdays at 10:30 am. Saturday Story Stop: Year-round at 10:30 am.
Fairy House Building. Tuesday, June 27th at 1:30pm. Join us outside the Downtown Library for a story about fairy houses and build your own fairy house. Bring your own natural items: sticks, shells, moss, stones, etc. Ages 5 to 12.
Family Storytime at Bushmaster Park Community Ramada. Wednesdays, June 7th to July 19th from 10:30to 11:15 am.
Friendshp Bracelets. Get creative with colors and codes to make friendship bracelets to keep or share! June 28th at 1:30pm. Ages 8 to 12.
Bards & Noble: Dungeons and Dragons for Teens. June 28th and July 19th. 5pm to 7:30pm. Downtown Library Conference Room. Ages 12 to 18. Registration Required.
Theatrikids! Come play with TheatriKids at the Downtown Library! Theatrikos presents an afternoon of theatre games that help with imagination and expression. See how much fun theatre arts can be even if you have no intention of stepping on stage. Thursday, June 29th at 1:30pm. Ages 6 to 13. Registration Required.
LEGO Club at the East Flagstaff Community Library. Build, Learn, Share! June 29th and July 13th. 2:30 to 3:45pm. Ages 5 to 11
Storytime oIce. Join us for a quick storytime on ice followed by skating at the Jay Lively Activity Center! Ages 5+. Junly 20th. 4:15 to 5:15pm. REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
Storytime on the Road: Join us for a storytime and games at a local park! Thursdays @ 4:30pm. Doney Park Dates: June 29th. Kachina Village Dates: June 22nd and July 6th
James the Juggler. June 30th at 10:30 am. Join us at Heritage Square for an all-ages juggling extravaganza! Bring a blanket for your comfort.
Friday Flicks: June 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th and July 7th and 14th. Craft at 1:30, movie at 2pm. Join us in the Community Room for a kid-friendly movie!  We'll have a themed craft 30 minutes before the movie begins.
Book Clubs
Kids Book Club (suggested age 7 and up). Monday, June 26th at 4:30: Amari and the Night Brothers. Monday, July 10th at 4:30: Swim Team. You may attend either Book Club - or both! The Book Club will be held in the Community Room at the downtown library. Click her to see how to reserve your FREE BOOK
Banned Book Club: To Kill a Mockingbird. Tuesday June 27th at 6pm. Downtown Library. Racism? Rape? "White Saviors"?  Join us to discuss the novel as well as the concepts of free speech and censorship as we encounter them today.
LGBT+ Book Club. The Raven Tower by Ann Leckie. July 10th at 6:30PM.
Teen Graphic Novel Club. Ages 13 to 18. Squire is a young adult graphic novel set in an alternate history Middle East/North Africa.  IT follows a knight of a war-torn empire who is hiding her true identity. Thursday, July 14th. 4:00 to 5:00 pm. Downtown Library. Click here to learn how to get the book.

Technology Help
Free Technology Instruction and Resume Help. 30-minute,one-on-one instruction sessions available for help with introductory software, creating email accounts, downloading eBooks, résumé development, online job applications, and more.   Click here to see available dates. Registration is required for all sessions.
