Adult & All-Ages Events
Movie Tuesday: Apollo 13. This docudrama chronicles the 1970 lunar mission explosion that left astronauts stranded in space, waiting for Mission Control to devise a plan to get them back to earth. July 18th, 5:30 to 7:45pm. Downtown Library.
Community Living Room feturing AZ Blues Hall of Fame Inductee, Tommy Dukes. July 19th. 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Downtown Library Northwest corner.
Knitting in Nature with Threaded Together. Join us as we walk out to McMillan Mesa Natural Area to enjoy crafting in nature! Learn a new skill, or bring your knitting, crochet, or other craft projects.  All ages and skill levels welcome! Sunday, July 23rd, 1:00 to 3:00pm. Meet at the Hal Jensen Rec Center.
More Than One Woman: the Life of Mary-Russell Ferrell Colton. The multi-faceted Mary-Russell Ferrell Colton was not only a professional artist who worked to bring recognition to female and Indigenous artists, but also a scientist, author, farmer, and visionary who helped found the Museum of Northern Arizona. Youth Events
Storytimes at the Downtown Library! Bouncing Babies: June 23rd and July 14th at 10:30 am. Toddler Tales: June 13th to July 18th, Tuesdays at 10:30 am. Preschool Express: June 15th to July 20th, Thursdays at 10:30 am. Saturday Story Stop: Year-round at 10:30 am.
Game Time Hang Time. Baord games, Switch, PS-4, and free snacks. July 18th at 1:30 to 2:30pm. Downtown Library. Ages 8 to 18.
Family Storytime at Bushmaster Park Community Ramada. Wednesdays, June 7th to July 19th from 10:30to 11:15 am.
Game Day at the East Flagstaff Library. Play video games and tabletop games. Wednesday, July 19th, 2:30 to 4:00pm. Ages 8 to 17.
Bards and Nobles: Dungeaons and Dragons for Teens. July 19th, 5:00 to 7:30pm. Downtown Library Conference Room. Ages 12 to 18. Registration Required.
Summer Reading Challenge Wrap-Up Party. Friday, July 21st, 10 am ro 12 pm. Slide, Snacks, Crafts, and Waterballon games with the librarians! Outsdie on the Downtown Library Lawn!
Self-Paced Activities
Checkout these self paced Summer Reading Missions!
Communiy Art Collage. Come to the Downtown Library information desk to get a tiny picture and copy it onto the blank paper we give you. We'll put all the pieces together to create one BIG image!  You can also check out watercolors to paint the copy if you want (for in library use only).
Black, White, and Read All Over Community Quilt. Create a block for our community quilt and earn points for the Summer Reading Challenge!   Check out a quilt block kit at the Downtown Library Information Desk (while supplies last) and return your finished block by Friday, July 21st.   The completed blocks will be quilted by the Thursdays at Judy's quilt group and the finished quilt will be displayed in the Coconino Quilters' Guild biannual quilt show in 2024!
Community Book Project. As part of the Summer Reading Challenge, the Library is collecting writing submissions around the theme of "Reading in Flagstaff."  Submit a poem, essay, or short fiction up to 2 pages or 500 words in length by July 21st.  At the end of SRC, the submissions will be turned into a community book available for checkout. Full submission details and age-specific prompts are available at the Downtown Library Information Desk!   All ages are welcome to submit.

Thursday Night Book Club: The Sentence by Louise Erdich. July 13th at 6 PM, Downtown Library & on Zoom.
Technology Help
Free Technology Instruction and Resume Help. 30-minute,one-on-one instruction sessions available for help with introductory software, creating email accounts, downloading eBooks, résumé development, online job applications, and more.   Click here to see available dates. Registration is required for all sessions.
