The best 10 days of the year are almost here!!! Over 100 activities, all free! Be sure you don’t miss out on any of the action (some events may require reservations). Click here for a program passport listing all the events. Here are just a few things to check out:Science in the Park – Saturday, September 22, 10-2pm, Wheeler Park
See a Mars Rover in action, view microscopic organisms, build a prehistoric wall, and much more! Plenty of hands-on activities for all!

Crazy for Color – Monday, September 24th, 4-5pm, CCC Fourth Street Campus
Celebrate the wonderful world of color with kaleidoscopes! Build your own and try out The Wonder Factory’s giant kaleidoscope. For ages 5-12, parents or guardians must accompany. Free but reservations are required: thewonderfactoryflagstaff@gmail.comFlagstaff Wonder Rally – Friday, September 28th, 4-8pm, Heritage Square
Kids will build a vehicle onsite or at several downtown stations, test it on a track, then compete at Heritage Square. Win an award for creativity and ingenuity. Ages 3-16.

Water Conservation Volunteer Day – Wednesday, September 26th, 4-6pm, 2384 N. Steves
Learn about water conservation through rainwater harvesting! Terra BIRDS needs your help in winterizing/insulating a rainwater harvesting tank at the Terra BIRDS demonstration garden.


2018 NAPSA STEM Poster Session – Wednesday, September 26th, 1-4pm NAU DuBois Center Ballroom (upper floor)
Come learn about all the new and exciting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) research being conducted throughout the Flagstaff region. All are welcome! Find more info here. Parking will be free for those attending the poster session (click here for parking info).


Hike with Coral Evans

Join Friends of the Rio de Flag and Mayor Coral Evans as she walks you through the Southside Neighborhood to discuss the history of flooding in the neighborhood and potential solutions to address the issue.  Thursday, September 20th, 5:30-7pm (meet at the NW corner of Phoenix Avenue and Beaver Street)


Mark your calendars! The Flagstaff Star Party returns with a weekend of stargazing, guided tours of the night sky, and seminars about stars, planets, and meteors. October 4-6th, 6-10pm, Buffalo Park. Learn more.


Calling all young writers! EngineerGirl has opened a writing contest for young writers (girls and boys) 3rd grade through high school. Participants will create and submit an original piece of fiction in which the main character is a female who uses engineering skills to solve a problem. Rules and regulations can be found here.


There is a bit of a chill in the morning air. We are not quite at frosted-car window-weather yet, but check out this new research coming from Virginia Tech: World’s first passive anti-frosting surface fights ice with ice – “The world’s first demonstration of a passive anti-frosting surface…all without any chemicals or energy inputs.”
