FLAGSTAFF — The city of Flagstaff, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is finalizing design plans for the Rio de Flag Flood Control Project. A public meeting is scheduled for community members to learn more about the project on June 20, 2019 from 6 – 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located at 211 West Aspen Avenue. The meeting will provide an opportunity to view the design plans, ask questions, and meet with the project team, including representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The Rio de Flag Flood Control Project consists of channel improvements along the Rio de Flag corridor. These improvements will address the economic issues associated with the potential of flooding, by effectively removing the Rio de Flag’s 100-year floodplain from downtown Flagstaff and surrounding areas.
