Public invited to take bike, bus surveys

City of Flagstaff:

If a bike share system were to be implemented, where would you like to see the bike share hubs*?

Please suggest up to 5 potential bike share hub locations by placing pins on the following map. While you are allowed to place as many pins (hubs) as possible, we encourage you to pick no more than 5 to help guide decision-making about where the most critical locations are.

*Bike share hubs are places where bikes can be picked up and returned to. Some bike share systems have “smart” bikes with GPS that allow you to lock your bike anywhere. However, these systems typically also include hubs at popular locations. Place pins on the main places you would ride a bike to and from to help us locate hubs.

NAIPTA is developing a plan for Mountain Line transit services in Flagstaff over the next five years, with the help of a transit planning firm Jarrett Walker & Associates. This transit planning project is expected to raise some difficult and interesting choices about what kind of services Mountain Line provides, and in what areas.

A key choice that will be explored is: Should Mountain Line focus its service in high-ridership areas, so that it can offer high frequency there? Or should Mountain Line spread out service so that most of Flagstaff has access to a little bit of transit?

Over the next several weeks, NAIPTA will be gathering input about transit priorities through a survey. We hope you take a few minutes to complete the full survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WDWW788

Please share this link with your friends, colleagues, neighbors, and other contacts who may want to influence transportation decisions in Flagstaff. The survey will be open through April 23, 2017.

Once we understand the community vision regarding these key choices, we will draft a proposed transit network. This summer, we will be returning for specific input regarding the proposed network.  The final plan will be approved by the NAIPTA Board of Directors this fall.  We hope you will stay engaged in this process throughout.

For more information, a Choices Report that includes more data and details about the existing conditions in Flagstaff is available here. Please keep an eye on our Reports & Plans webpage for deliverables throughout the process. Please let me know if I can provide more information or answer any questions.

Thanks again for supporting this transit planning process in Flagstaff!
