The fall semester was exciting—it was President Cruz Rivera’s first at NAU and the first in-person semester for our Class of 2025 and Class of 2026, our researchers made groundbreaking discoveries, we expanded our world-class faculty, celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the Native American Cultural Center, cheered as NAU Cross Country won its fifth title and NAU Football beat the Arizona Wildcats, and so much more. Phew! President Cruz Rivera talks about his favorite memories of the fall—including the best moment so far at NAU. Can he do it in less than four minutes?

LumberSNAPS: Celebrating MLK Day

Yesterday, dozens of Lumberjacks gathered in-person and virtually to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The day began with a celebration in the du Bois Ballroom, then participants marched north before heading off to serve the community.

Investing in Indigenous Youth through
Native Spirit

Amanda Hunter was a pharmacy technician when she realized how many patients had an unmanageably long list of medications, which often led to less good health outcomes. She committed herself to creating greater equity in public and has continued that work through graduate programs in public health and now as a postdoctoral scholar for CHER.

Exercise science and Honors College student Rachel Kanyur is the newest student member of the Arizona Board of Regents. Her objective in attaining the role has been a simple one: to ensure that the collective voice of her fellow students is heard.

Bioengineer awarded NSF CAREER grant

Amir Arzani, an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, received a $507,642 grant from the NSF to support research that develops scientific machine learning models to improve current cardiovascular flow models.
