United Way of Northern Arizona — From Fire Recovery to KinderCamp™ – We Need Volunteers

Tunnel Fire & KinderCamp™
Volunteer Opportunities This Month
On the surface, you wouldn’t think the post-Tunnel Fire recovery efforts and the KinderCamp™ program have much to do with each other. One is about cleaning up the debris so families can rebuild after a devastating fire; the other is about making sure children entering kindergarten are ready for their first day of school.
The common thread? Both require volunteer support, and we’re hoping you can spare a few hours in the coming days and weeks to help.
Timberline Cleanup June 4 & June 11
On the next two Saturdays, we’ll be hosting cleanup efforts in Timberline for those impacted by the Tunnel blaze. Although much work has already been done, there are still neighbors who need our help.
We can’t rebuild their homes or barns, but our efforts can help reduce their clean-up costs, so they can put those dollars towards rebuilding those structures.
Both volunteer events will be held from 8 am to 12:30 pm. As with previous Tunnel Fire recovery efforts, all the details will be provided once you register using Volunteer Hub.
If you’ve been with us on these deployments before, you know this work is quite rewarding. We have many slots available and would be grateful if you could sign up. You will receive safety training and be provided an ID to access the neighborhood. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
KinderCamp™ Orientation & Bridging Over Ceremony
We’re also looking for people to help out at the beginning and end of this year’s KinderCamp. The first opportunity will be this Monday, June 6, to welcome the children and their families to the orientation for the program at their schools. The second event is to help out during the “Bridging Over” ceremonies at the end of the program.
Both events are in the evenings from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. These two events can only accommodate a handful of volunteers on site. Again, details will be sent to you when you sign up via Volunteer Hub.
If you don’t have time to spare for either of these worthy efforts this month, could we count on you to Step Up for Our Community with a donation to the United Way? Your dollars can be earmarked for our Crisis Response Fund or for programs like KinderCamp.
