Ruiz Heads Search Committee for
New UWNA President/CEO
Hello,
The search for the next head of United Way of Northern Arizona is entering its final stage, with the Board of Directors opening up the application process to replace current President & CEO Carol Dykes.
The Board has spent the past few months meeting and surveying key community stakeholders to gain their insights about the future direction of UWNA and the qualities they would like to see in the next head of the organization.
“We felt that input was vital, because – let’s face it – Carol will not be easy to replace,” said Board Vice Chair Armando Ruiz (Coconino County).
Ruiz was appointed by Board Chair Mike Kelly (W.L. Gore & Associates) to head up the Search Committee.
“Carol’s one of the longest-serving executives in UWNA’s history,” Ruiz continued. “She’s been a constant presence for more than two decades, making a huge impact on UWNA’s work in Coconino, Navajo and Apache counties. It’s going to take a special person to take the reins.”
Dykes joined UWNA almost 25 years ago. She served as the interim President & CEO twice before permanently taking the role in March 2019.
As the head of UWNA, Dykes led a transformation of the organization that refocused its efforts on three key areas – promoting early childhood education; positive youth development; and helping families meet basic needs so they could move from day-to-day existence to planning for a positive future.
“I’m proud of and grateful for the many partnerships the United Way has forged over the years that have helped so many,” she said, “and I look forward to helping my successor to move our ‘Live United’ mission forward in the future.”
The Board is searching for an innovative and visionary leader to work with the Board and UWNA staff to increase UWNA’s community impact.
This includes fostering partnerships in the public, private and nonprofit sectors; communicating the passion and purpose of UWNA to ensure the funding needed to support our mission and the community.
If you know someone qualified and interested in this position, they can apply via email by submitting a cover letter and resume by December 16.
