City of Flagstaff announces Lee Williams as Water Services Director

FLAGSTAFF — The City of Flagstaff is excited to announce that Lee Williams has been selected as the City’s Water Services Director.

Lee has served for 13 years with the City of Flagstaff in Water Services and was the previous Water Operations Section Director. Prior to this role, he served as an Operations Supervisor and Plant Operator in the public sector, worked as an educator for six years, and worked for four years in private industry.  He has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry & mathematics and is a certified operator in water treatment, water distribution, wastewater treatment and wastewater collection.

Senior Deputy City Manager Shannon Anderson said “we had two excellent candidates for this very important position. The review process included three separate panels and a community meet and greet. We are pleased with the outcome and thrilled that Lee will be joining the City of Flagstaff’s leadership team.” City Manager Greg Clifton shared, “We are very excited to have Lee fill this important role. He comes with a high degree of technical expertise, and he is a quick learner. His leadership style and calm demeanor will lend itself well to the Water Services team and to the organization as a whole. Congratulations, Mr. Williams!”

Lee has lived in Flagstaff with his family for over 13 years and is an alumnus of Northern Arizona University. He is looking forward to continuing his work with the dedicated, intelligent staff of the Water Services Division and having a direct, positive impact in the community. Lee noted “Flagstaff has been successful in adopting innovative approaches in water use, reuse, and treatment and is in a unique position to continue embracing innovation into the future. I see my role as a steward to both the City and its water system that has been here for many in the past and will continue for many years into the future.”
