Mayor Becky Daggett was born and raised in Arizona and is a passionate advocate for affordable housing, the arts, forest health and climate action, and education. She won her first term on the Flagstaff City Council in 2020 and was elected mayor in 2022.
Prior to election, she served in executive leadership of several local nonprofits, including the Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy and the Flagstaff Arts Council, and as the City of Flagstaff’s first Business Retention and Expansion Manager. Becky is the recipient of two Performing Arts Viola Awards, currently serves as a board member for Arizona Citizens for the Arts, and is a two-time Northern Arizona University graduate with a master’s degree in Sustainable Communities.
“The arts—in all colors, flavors, and modes—are critical to Arizonans’ myriad cultural identities, educational opportunities, economic vitality, and quality of life. I’m eager to get to work with the Commission and help to support and celebrate artists and arts organizations throughout the state” said Mayor Becky Daggett.
The Arizona Commission on the Arts provides grants, programs, services and leadership in support of arts and arts education programs. In partnership with arts organizations, schools, festivals and individual artists, the Commission endeavors to celebrate Arizona’s diverse communities and rich cultural traditions, inspire creativity, grow local economies and enhance quality of life for all Arizonans.
