FLAGSTAFF, Ariz — The City of Flagstaff Public Works Department invites members of the public to participate in the 2026 Public Works Academy. The Academy is an immersive, eight-week educational experience designed to give residents a behind‑the‑scenes look at the essential services that keep our community running. Applications are due by Sept. 16, 2026.
Beginning Oct. 1, 2026, participants will explore the inner workings of key Public Works sections including Streets, Solid Waste, Facilities, and Fleet Services. Through interactive classes, hands‑on activities, and field experiences, residents will gain insight into the planning, operations, and dedicated professionals who support Flagstaff’s everyday quality of life.
The program consists of eight sessions held over seven Thursday evenings and one Saturday morning. It is free to all participants, open to Flagstaff residents aged 18 years or older, and is hosted at the Public Works Facility (3200 W. Route 66, Building 6). Participants must attend all sessions, complete a waiver, and follow safety protocols.
