COCONINO COUNTY — From the official acknowledgment of the key role Hispanic/Latino Americans play in the social/economic vitality of the nation, to the official celebration of the independence movement of a variety of Latin American nations and a remembrance of the important history the the local Hispanic/Latino community, residents of Coconino County are preparing to celebrate a variety of events during Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, 2026.
The first official act will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15 when the Coconino County Board of Supervisors is expected to approve the official Proclamation recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month.
The proclamation will be read by members of the Coconino Hispanic Advisory Council (CHAC).

Northern Arizona University of present its annual Celebración de NAU from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026 at the DUBOIS Ballroom.
Open to all NAU students, the event is presented by the Community, Leadership, Alliances and Belonging (CoLAB) Center and will feature games and activities, connection with a variety of NAU and local organizations.

While not a part of the official Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, the local community has already begun preparations for upcoming Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead Celebrations.
Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces, in partnership with the Museum of Northern Arizona, will present its 23rd annual Celebraciones de la Gente on Oct. 24-25 at the Museum.
