FLAGSTAFF, Ariz — Join City staff and the project team on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Flagstaff Aquaplex (1702 N Fourth Street) to learn more about the Butler-Fourth Improvements Project! This community meeting will give you the opportunity to view the current design plans, ask questions and share your feedback. This is an open house with no formal presentation, join us anytime between 5 and 6:30 p.m. Can’t make the meeting? Displays will be available on the project website, www.butlerfourthimprovements.com, after the event.
Project Details
The City of Flagstaff is planning major improvements to sections of Butler Avenue and Fourth Street to improve the roadway, enhance connections for pedestrians and bicyclists, address flooding and improve access to I-40. The project is currently in the design phase.
Proposed Improvements Include
- Widening Butler Avenue from two lanes to four lanes between Little America and the Sinagua Heights Subdivision.
- Improvements to Fourth Street between Trickling Springs Trail and the Canyon Del Rio subdivision.
- Separated, off-street facilities for pedestrians, bicyclists and others.
- A median on Butler Avenue in front of Little America and Black Bart’s.
- Two new roundabouts along Butler Avenue (shown in the map).
- A pedestrian underpass at the Fourth Street and Butler Avenue intersection.
- Raising the Fourth Street and Butler Avenue intersection to reduce flooding impacts.
- Additional turn lanes from Butler Avenue onto I-40.
- Widening the eastbound I-40 off-ramp at Butler Avenue to increase capacity.
- Stormwater and utility improvements throughout the corridor.
