City of Flagstaff accepting applications to fill council vacancy

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz — The City of Flagstaff is accepting applications from qualified residents interested in serving on the City Council. An appointment will be made on or before Oct. 26, 2026, to fill the Council seat vacancy created by the resignation of Anthony Garcia. The appointment term will expire in December of 2028.

To be eligible for appointment to the City Council, an applicant must be 18 years of age, registered to vote in the corporate limits of the City of Flagstaff, a resident within the corporate limits of the city for a minimum of one year, and cannot hold any other public office at the time of appointment. Applications will not be considered for individuals who are running in the November election.

Interested citizens must electronically submit an application form, letter of interest, and a resume.  Application materials and information is available online athttps://www.flagstaff.az.gov/5238/City-Council-Vacancy-Application Completed application materials must be emailed to the City Clerk at  stacy.saltzburg@flagstaffaz.gov, no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 12, 2026.
