City of Flagstaff issues Declaration of Emergency for November 2026 flooding event

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz — Mayor Becky Daggett has signed a Declaration of Emergency in response to the impacts of the November 2026 flooding event in Flagstaff. The declaration enables the City to request assistance from the State of Arizona to support ongoing response and recovery efforts.

The flooding event, which began on Oct. 31 and continued through Nov. 2, 2026, produced widespread rainfall totals of up to four inches across the Flagstaff area. The storm occurred during an already unusually wet period, with October 2026 ranking as the second wettest October on record.

Significant flooding produced by the storm resulted in extensive road closures, emergency traffic control measures, damage to public infrastructure, damage to homes and businesses, disruption of normal City operations and hazardous conditions requiring immediate emergency response.

The severe weather also created life-threatening conditions throughout the City, prompting multiple water rescue operations and resulting in a tragic loss of life.

City crews, partner agencies, and emergency responders continue recovery efforts as damage assessments are conducted. Additional impacts, damages, and costs may be identified as access to affected areas improves.
