City of Flagstaff — Safe Streets Master Plan seeks community input on transportation future

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz — The City of Flagstaff, in partnership with MetroPlan, Coconino County, Mountain Line, Northern Arizona University (NAU), and the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), is developing the Flagstaff Safe Streets Master Plan (SSMP) — a shared vision for how people move throughout the Flagstaff region today and into the future.

The plan will examine the entire transportation system — including streets, sidewalks, bikeways, trails, transit, and regional connections — to make travel safer, easier, more accessible, and better connected for everyone.

Residents who travel throughout Flagstaff every day have firsthand knowledge of the transportation system that data alone cannot capture — from crossings that feel unsafe and sidewalks or bike routes that end abruptly, to areas of traffic congestion and limited transit access, as well as the elements of the system that already work well. The City is seeking this local knowledge and perspective to help identify needs, shape priorities, and guide future improvements throughout the planning process.

There are several ways to share your experience:

  • Take the survey — Tell us what’s working, what’s not, and what matters most.
  • Put it on the map — Show us where you see an issue or an opportunity for improvement.
  • Join the conversation — Participate in upcoming community events and share your ideas.
