City of Flagstaff commemorates Juneteenth
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S. and is a time to reflect, educate, and celebrate Black freedom and achievement.
This week, the Flagstaff City Council formally proclaimed June 19 as Juneteenth National Independence Day, honoring the day in 1865 when over 250,000 enslaved Black Americans in Texas were declared free.
