“The duty of the Treasurer is to serve as the bank and ensure the safekeeping of public monies on behalf of taxing jurisdictions located within the county. We are committed to ensuring the safekeeping of all public monies on deposit with our office. Our approach to investment and banking decisions is based on a multi-year plan that keeps our taxpayer money stable and successful over the long term despite climate change and other systemic risks,” said Coconino County Treasurer Sarah Benatar.

“Although we may not set the tax rates or district budgets, we are committed to continuing to help taxpayers find the information they are looking for and keeping their dollars safe and accounted for. My office will continue to operate according to these high standards,” she added.

In 2023, for every dollar billed, 58% goes to support education districts, 9% to cities and towns, 12% to Coconino County special districts, such as the Flood Control District, 6% to the Coconino County General Fund, and 12% supports other special districts, such as fire and hospital districts. Tax rates and budgets are set by individual taxing jurisdictions.
