Chair of Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, chief operating officer of Radio Compesina will be the keynote speaker
FLAGSTAFF — Purple Heart veterans, community leaders and students will be honored at the fifth annual César E. Chávez Community Recognition Breakfast.
Presented by the Coconino County Hispanic Advisory Council (CHAC), the event will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2019 at American Legion Post 3, 204 W. Birch Ave., Flagstaff. Doors open at 6:45 a.m.
More than 150 individuals have already RSVP’d for the event.
The event honors Coconino County Purple Heart veterans, community, and student leaders.
Bill Barquin, chair of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and chief operating officer for the Cesar Chavez Foundation’s Communications Fund and its flagship program — Radio Compesina, will be the keynote speaker. Barquin has been recognized by the Phoenix Business Journal as a 40 under 40 Leader in Arizona, as well as a recipient of the Univision Communications “40 Under 40 Hispanic Leaders in Arizona” and Cox Communication’s Hispanic Leader of Arizona.

About CHAC: The Coconino County Hispanic Advisory Council was established in 2001 with the purpose of advising the County Board f Supervisors on issues and concerns that affect the Hispanic community in Coconino County. In addition to serving as an advisory group to the county supervisors, the council has identified the following five major areas of focus:
- To review and make recommendations on proposed local, state and federal legislation affecting the Hispanic community.
- To examine and assist in planning policies in the areas of employment, education, housing, land use, social services, health, mental health, criminal justice and recreation.
- To assist Coconino County in recruiting and retaining Hispanic employees.
- To promote Hispanic cultural arts, historic activities and events.
- To conduct forums on issues and concerns of the Hispanic community in Coconino County.
