City of Flagstaff to receive $18.1 million federal grant for Flagstaff Pulliam Airport

FLAGSTAFF — The city of Flagstaff will receive $18.1 million in supplemental grant funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to be utilized by the Flagstaff Pulliam Airport. This funding does not require a local match and is flexible in nature, with funding eligible for operational costs and infrastructure improvements.

Title XII of Division B of the CARES Act distributes funding to airports to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the impacts of the COVID-19 public health emergency. The city has not yet committed to specific spending, but the grant will be used to fund ongoing needs and capital projects at Flagstaff Pulliam Airport.

“With increased flights and enplanements, it is one of the fastest-growing airports in the state,” said Mayor of Flagstaff Coral Evans. “These critical funds will be used to help us stay afloat in an environment where the travel industry—and the airline industry—has been decimated by the COVID-19 outbreak. The flexibility in the use of these funds will allow us to retain employees, spend these important funds on capital and operations, pay utilities and help us keep afloat until people can start traveling consistently.”
