Coconino County Winter Parking Ordinance Amendment

The Coconino County Winter Parking Ordinance Amendment, which the Coconino County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved on November 15th, will go into effect on December 15th. The amendment allows the Sherriff’s office to enforce violations and clarifies that the registered vehicle owner is the responsible party in a violation of the ordinance. This amendment applies to County roads and rights of way, including those related to Coconino County parks and natural areas. Fort Tuthill County Park is a popular snow play destination. Visitors may attend the Snow Park, or enjoy snow recreation at Fort Tuthill, such as snowshoeing or making snowmen. Visitors should be aware that the Parking Ordinance applies to Fort Tuthill roads, as well, and that safe parking for snow play should be in designated parking areas. Read more about the Winter Parking Ordinance Amendment here. For more information on Winter Recreation, please visit.

Coconino County welcomes winter snow play, and encourages safe, responsible recreation!

Pond at Elizabeth “Liz” C. Archuleta County Park Completed

Thanks to funding from the Arizona Game and Fish Heritage Grant, Coconino County Parks and Recreation has been able to complete the pond at Elizabeth “Liz” C. Archuleta County Park. The pond was originally small, difficult to access, and filled with algae. Thanks to the grant and good work from Parks and Recreation staff, the pond has been enlarged, has a viewing platform, and has a waterfall and UV system to prevent algae buildup. The pond is an important educational tool, wildlife watching site, and provides a mini-ecosystem to wildlife big and small! Read more about the pond here, and plan your visit to see the pond and other amenities at the park!
