Candy Making Class

Let’s make some candy! This program will teach you how to make a variety of sweets. You will learn how candy is made and walk away with some great tips and tricks. Yes, you will be able to eat the candy that you help to make!

This class will be offered on Tuesday evening at the Fort Tuthill Mess Hall in Flagstaff, AZ. It will be taught by our incredible culinary instructor, Willa McAuliffe.

Culinary classes require pre-registration so that we will have enough ingredients for each student. Make sure to register online at least 3 days before the program starts. Our programs must meet minimum and maximum enrollment standards. If you are enrolled in a program that doesn’t meet the minimum enrollment standard the program will be cancelled, and you will receive a full refund minus any non-refundable processing fees.

The cost for this program is $25 for Adults (18 and older) and $15 for Youth (8 – 17 years old).

Pre-registration is required. Sign up here!

Winter Eagle Watch

February 10th, 8:00-10:00 a.m.

“Join wildlife biologists as we search for and view bald eagles in their natural habitat, out on Lake Mary Rd. Of course, we can’t guarantee you’ll see an eagle, but we will try, and there will at least be water fowl to discover! Viewing area will be at the eastern end of Upper Lake Mary at or near the Osprey Lookout parking lot on the south side of Lake Mary Road. Look for signs after the Lake View Campground. You do not need to stay for the whole time—you’re encouraged to drop in between 8-10am. This is a free event but pre-register here.”

A Message from the Fort Tuthill Military Museum

“Happy New Year to everyone! Our season opener will be May 17th in conjunction with the 2024 Overland Expo. We hope you’ll come see us while you’re at Overland, because we’d love to share our great museum with those interested in local history, military history, or Fort Tuthill and its connection to Flagstaff.  We’re still looking for volunteers throughout the year so if you have the time and a desire we could certainly use your help creating and maintaining exhibits, painting, cleaning, archiving, and conservation. You can volunteer for a few hours or the entire day, it’s up to you. If interested or want more information please email James at 158Bushmaster@gmail.com.”

Snow Recreation

Winter is not over! If you are looking for fun ideas for winter recreation, as well as safety and travel tips, visit Discover Flagstaff and download their Winter Recreation Map.

There is no sledding at Fort Tuthill County Park. However, there are many other fun ways to enjoy snow in the park! Enjoy miles of beautiful trails, for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snow hikes. Make snow people, snow forts, and even have (safe) snowball fights. Want to try snow tubing? Learn more and make reservations at Flagstaff Snow Park. Online reservations are required.
Save bike season at Fort Tuthill Bike Park by not sledding on the features. The features may be damaged, which will delay opening for biking season. It is also unsafe. Be safe. Have fun. Save the Bike Park for bikes!
Let’s keep our winters wonderful! Pack out all trash and dispose of it in correct bins. Do not play on highways, roads, railways, or other unsafe areas. Practice Leave No Trace and enjoy our beautiful winter wonderland!
