Apply for Coconino County District 3 Supervisor Vacancy by Nov. 13

The application process to fill District 3 County Supervisor Matt Ryan’s seat on the Board of Supervisors is now open.  Applications are being accepted through November 13th at 8:00 am. The seat will become vacant on January 1, 2014.

Qualified applicants must reside full-time at a physical address within the current County District 3 boundary (look up your address with this interactive District 3 Address Finder). In addition, the applicant must be registered with the Democratic Political Party, as state law requires the position be filled by a member of the same political party as the incumbent. The District 3 Supervisor is now Matt Ryan who was elected to the position in 2020 as a Democrat. Ryan is retiring at the end of the year.

District 3 includes the southwest portion of Flagstaff (image below), as well as a large area of Coconino County north, west and south of Flagstaff including Bellemont, Williams, Kachina Village, Mountainaire, and Sedona. The full map of District 3 can be

Interested persons may apply via the County’s online application portal. Here, one can complete an application, upload a Letter of Interest and Resume, and any endorsements or supplemental information for the Board of Supervisors to review. Public Review and Comment Accepted

After confirmation of qualified applicants, the public will be invited to review the applicants and comments will be accepted via a public comment portal.

The Board of Supervisors will convene for further discussion of candidates at their Regular Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. Supervisors will review the candidate applications, any public comments received, and determine which candidates to select for interviews. The interviews and selection of the new Supervisor are anticipated to take place on Wednesday, Nov. 29.
