Museum of Northern Arizona — Museum from home

Message from Mary –
Thank you for keeping up with news from MNA by subscribing to this eNewletter. In it, we are able to share new developments at the museum, upcoming events, and new initiatives. Despite the fact that our staff are working from home to stay safe and well, their creativity is undimmed and we are all working hard to ensure you can continue to experience the many opportunities at MNA, albeit in new and different ways. In this edition, you will see a variety of programs available now online, for you to enjoy in the safety of your own home. With Dinosaur Detectives, Garden tours, storytime, science talks and much more, I invite you to continue to enjoy your experiences with the Museum of Northern Arizona. We all look forward to the time when we can safely join together again.

Summer Discovery Camps
June 8-July 31
With the kids home for a few weeks, it’s a fine time to start planning for when they will be home for the whole summer. The Discovery summer camp schedules are now online. All the summer camps are held as small groups, with plenty of outdoor space, and many of the camps involve hikes and field trips. At this time of uncertainty, we are taking registrations only to hold your place; payments will be made in May when we are able to confirm the 2020 summer camp season.

#GivingTuesdayNow
May 5, 2020
The Museum of Northern Arizona will take part in #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity in response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. You can help us not just by donating on May 5, but also by sharing on your social media what MNA means to you. In these uncertain times, when we are physically apart, generosity can bring the world together.
Heritage Festival artist applications
This year the Zuni, Hopi and Navajo festivals are being combined into a single Heritage Festival September 12 & 13. This weekend festival provides an opportunity to meet, demonstrate, and sell your art. Artists who sign up early will be featured on MNA’s Facebook page. Artists can use the applications currently online for the Zuni, Hopi, and Navajo festivals. Send questions and inquiries to ageorge@musnaz.org.
It’s all about the ears now
Nobody cares what shoes you wear to an online meeting, but everyone notices your earrings. Apron on, ready to help bake
HOPI-R2 is trying on one of the Bluebird Flour Sack Aprons by Diné/Navajo artist, Rena Charles, but these unique creations fit a human physique better than a droid. Keep your clothes (or your pajamas) clean while you knead bread and mix up another batch of cookies with one of these wonderful apron. Each is a unique creation, designed and sewn by Rena Charles in Cameron, AZ. Besides the aprons, Rena also creates beautiful beaded necklaces and jewelry. All items from the Museum Bookstore can be ordered online and shipped.
