FLAGSTAFF — Hundreds of students participated in the annual Hispanic Convocation / Graduación Hispana held on May 8, 2014 at Northern Arizona University.
The event featured opening remarks by Mistress of Ceremony Margarita Cabajal, the invocation by the Rev. Jessica Goad, the welcoming address by outgoing NAU President John D. Haeger and a keynote address by Dr. Joseph Collentine of the College of Arts and Letters.
High School Senior Outstanding Awards were presented to Nickolas Vallecillo of Flagstaff High School, Ella Santana-Popper of Northland Preparatory Academy, Samantha Quintanilla of the Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy and Elora Palmer of Coconino High School.
The Cesar Chavez Student Leadership Award was presented to Emily O’Neil.
The Gabriela Mistral Academic Achievement Award was presented to Daniel Enriquez.
The Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz Leadership Award was presented to Rebeca Rodriguez.
The Outstanding Graduate Student Award was presented to Denise Olivas.
