Notice of Flood Control District Public Outreach Meeting on June 23

FLAGSTAFF — On Thursday June 23, 2022, at 6:30 p.m., the Coconino County Flood Control District will hold a virtual meeting to present important information to the communities of Timberline, Wupatki Trails, Fernwood, and Doney Park regarding flood threat, risk, and mitigation efforts as a result of the Pipeline, Tunnel, and Schultz Fires.

Given the large area impacted by potential flooding from these wildfires and the significant level of information that must be shared, there will not be a question & answer period. Most future communications, including identification of those properties at risk for flooding based upon the Flood Risk Modeling will take place via email, residents & property owners are encouraged to send a message to the above address and provide contact information including a cell phone and email address. The recent wildfire activity had no additional impacts to the Museum Watershed. A future meeting will review potential flood threat and mitigation efforts for the West side of Flagstaff.

The Coconino County Flood Control District is charged with reducing the risk of flood loss, minimizing the impact of floods on human safety, health and welfare and restoring and preserving the natural and beneficial values served by floodplains. The Coconino County Board of Supervisors (Board) is convening this special session in order to resolve as the Board of Directors of the County Flood Control District (District). This notification of a special session is being made pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.01 & 38-431.02
