The edition includes:

Planning continuing on local cultural celebrations

Community members for the first time will have an opportunity to enjoy an evening viewing of the ofrendas / altars on Oct. 22 at the Museum of Northern Arizona. Meanwhile, a number of local groups are busy this time of year planning for both Hispanic Heritage Month and Día de los Muertos events. Keep checking www.AmigosNAZ.com for the latest updates.

It’s liftoff for LAUNCH Flagstaff

Collaborative effort, years in the making, will tackle early childhood education, college and technical training as first goals.

The road to higher ed

Coconino Community College officials and supporters are hitting the road to provide informational briefings on Prop. 410, a property tax override that would benefit the college. Officials are determined to educate the public on the value of the institution. Meanwhile, NAU’s new chief diversity officer focuses on a diversity strategic plan by meeting with students, faculty, staff and the public.

Fast-tracking diversity at NAU

It has been a busy few weeks for Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Carmen Phelps at Northern Arizona University as she takes on the challenge as the institution’s inaugural chief diversity office, launches a series of campus community meetings with students, faculty, staff and administration to receive feedback on ongoing diversity issues and works to develop NAU’s first diversity strategic plan.

Taking the low, slow ride

Looking for a road trip? How about New Mexico to catch two exhibits that focus on everything about lowriders? One exhibit offers photos, ceramics, woodwork and paintings inspired by the slow and low rider, while another features actual chrome classics in a museum setting.

Hot stuff tonight

There’s something on the breeze, a sweet roasting aroma coming from your local outdoor farmer’s market or a nearby store parking lot. Hatch chili season is here, and is just about gone so the time is now to have someone roast your chilies. If not, you are going to be spending a lot of time over the kitchen burner or watching the oven broiler.
